Philadelphia Family Pride sponsored our 3rd annual Family Matters Conference for LGBTQ parents and prospective parents on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Castle on the campus of Arcadia University.
Our annual conference aims to reach parents from different experiences including adoptive parents, single parents, prospective parents, trans-parents, partnered/married parents, grandparents, etc.
Educators were also invited for part of the day to learn how to make their schools more welcoming and inclusive for children of LGBTQ parents.

In addition to the workshops, we had a terrific keynote speaker and very popular workshop presenter from the past, Graciela Slesaranksy-Poe, and had another panel of adult and teenage children of LGBTQ parents to answer our questions and talk about their school experiences.

Conference History:
The conference was first held in 2010 at the Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Social Research and offered 20 workshops for attendees, as well as a kids zone.
In 2011, our second annual conference was sponsored by Widener University and Widener’s Center for Social Work Education and the Graduate Program in Human Sexuality. There were 18 workshops and panels during the day, including an Ask the Experts! Teen Panel during lunch.
